About Rockroot
A personal record of building and experimenting on the Canadian Shield.
Why Rockroot?
While building my house on the Canadian Shield, we dug into ground that seemed to be three-quarters rocks, with roots filling the rest. The name comes from that work in the forest.
First-hand work
Here I document building a cabin, learning to live with off-grid solar, and testing low-power field sensors. I also run a homelab, make games, and plan the systems around these projects.
The record includes photographs, measurements, diagrams, decisions, and setbacks as the work develops. Some projects are underway; others are still ideas I want to try.
Why publish it?
Writing things down helps me keep going and remember why I made a decision. Rockroot is mostly a record for myself. If something here is interesting or useful to someone else, that is a welcome outcome.
